The Pont de les Peixateries Velles, the 'bridge of the old fish stalls', is the red iron footbridge over the Onyar, better known as the Eiffel Bridge. It was built in 1877 by the company of Gustave Eiffel, which won the public contract, a dozen years before the firm raised the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A riveted lattice girder of a single span, it replaced earlier red footbridges at the same spot.
The bridge is loved less for crossing than for the view: from its lattice deck, and from the neighbouring stone bridge, comes the classic framed picture of the coloured Cases de l'Onyar with the cathedral and Sant Feliu towers behind.
