About Casa Masó
The white house among the coloured ones, birthplace of the architect Rafael Masó and the only one of the Onyar houses open to visitors: a jewel of Catalan Noucentisme, full of tiles and stained glass.
Casa Masó, on Carrer Ballesteries, is the birthplace and family home of the architect Rafael Masó (1880-1935), and the only one of the Cases de l'Onyar open to visitors. Masó rebuilt the family's several old houses into one, and its white, galleried river facade stands out among the coloured ones, an archetype of the Onyar waterfront and a landmark of Catalan Noucentisme.
Inside, Masó's craftsmanship shows throughout: a dining room with his own designed lamp and leaded glass, tiled rooms and a stained-glass bathroom. Owned by the city and run by the Fundació Rafael Masó, it is visited on guided tours; the house also holds a family art collection.
