About Mount Dajti and the Dajti Ekspres
The mountain that towers over Tirana, reached by a cable car of about 4.7 kilometres opened in 2005, with forest walks, restaurants and a famous view over the city, called the Balcony of Tirana.
Mount Dajti rises to about 1,613 metres east of Tirana, in a national park protected since 1966, covered by oak and beech forests where wild boar, foxes and wolves live. The Dajti Ekspres cable car, opened in 2005, carries visitors in about 15 minutes over some 4.7 kilometres to the Llarka plateau, at about 1,050 metres.
At the top are restaurants, a hotel, an adventure park, and the view that has earned the mountain its nickname, the Balcony of Tirana, over the city, the plain and, on clear days, the Adriatic. The summit itself, topped by broadcasting masts, is a separate hike of two to three hours.
