The Egon Schiele Art Centrum is a modern-art gallery established in 1992 and opened in November 1993, housed in the former municipal town brewery built between 1605 and 1608. It is named for the Austrian Expressionist Egon Schiele, whose mother came from the town and who stayed here briefly in 1911 with his companion Wally Neuzil, painting his celebrated Krumau townscapes before local disapproval drove him out. Schiele never lived or worked in this building; alongside material connected to him, the centre runs rotating exhibitions of other modern and contemporary artists.
