The Cloak Bridge is a tall, multi-tiered stone viaduct that spans the deep ravine on the western side of Český Krumlov Castle, linking the fourth and fifth courtyards. Three storeys of massive piers and arches carry two galleries: an enclosed lower corridor that connects the castle's Masquerade Hall to the private box of the Castle Baroque Theatre, and an open upper walkway leading to the terraced gardens, allowing the ruling family to move between residence, theatre and gardens without descending to ground level. Its Baroque form was created mainly between 1764 and 1777, largely to designs by Josef Fortini, replacing earlier covered corridors; the parapet carries copies of Baroque statues of saints, Wenceslas, John of Nepomuk, Anthony of Padua and Felix of Cantalice, dated 1747. The name 'Plášťový' derives from the medieval 'cloak wall' that once defended this flank, not from the structure's appearance.
