Love Valley (Aşk Vadisi), also called Bağıldere, is a valley within Göreme Historical National Park, lying between the towns of Göreme and Uçhisar in Nevşehir Province. It is known for unusually tall and slender fairy chimneys, tapering rock pillars that rise from the valley floor. Each pillar is a column of soft volcanic tuff capped by harder basalt; the resistant cap shelters the tuff beneath, so the column is left standing as the surrounding rock erodes. The stone shifts from white and cream to rose-pink as the light changes through the day.
Unlike many Cappadocian valleys, Love Valley has few rock-cut churches, and its appeal rests on geology rather than Byzantine monuments. It is among the region's most popular spots for sunrise hot-air-balloon flights and sunset viewing. The name is modern and touristic. The valley lies within the UNESCO-listed Rock Sites of Cappadocia.
