About Casa Lis

A glittering Art Nouveau mansion of 1905 on the old city wall, now a museum of Art Nouveau and Art Déco. Its stained-glass-roofed patio blazes with coloured light above collections of glass, jewellery and porcelain dolls.

The Casa Lis is a glittering Art Nouveau mansion of around 1905, built on the old city wall above the Tormes for a Salamanca industrialist, with a striking iron-and-glass south facade. Since 1995 it has housed the Museo de Art Nouveau y Art Déco, from a collection given to the city by the antiquarian Manuel Ramos Andrade.

Its centrepiece is a dazzling patio roofed with stained glass that floods the hall with coloured light. The collections range across glass by masters such as Gallé and Lalique, Art Déco bronze-and-ivory figures, jewellery, enamels and fans, and hundreds of 19th-century French and German porcelain dolls.
