About Mirador de Aldehuela
The great cliff-edge viewpoint beside the Puente Nuevo, named for the bridge's architect, where the full, staggering drama of the gorge, the bridge and the Serranía opens out in a single breathtaking view.
The Mirador de Aldehuela is the finest of the viewpoints set along the cliff beside the Puente Nuevo, named in honour of José Martín de Aldehuela, the architect credited with completing the great bridge. From its terrace on the lip of the El Tajo gorge, the whole astonishing scene opens out: the bridge springing across the chasm, the sheer rock walls plunging a hundred metres to the river, and the green plain and blue mountains of the Serranía de Ronda beyond.
It is the classic spot to take in and photograph Ronda's famous panorama. Free and open at all hours, it is busiest at midday; the light is loveliest, and the crowds thinnest, in the early morning and at sunset.
