About Stone Bridge

The Stone Bridge, Ura e Gurit, the Ottoman-style footbridge over the Lumbardhi river at the heart of the old town, rebuilt in 1982 after a flood destroyed it.

The bridge was first built around the 16th century of worked stone, for people on foot, with a high central arch. Road works in the 1960s damaged it, and the flood of November 1979 destroyed it completely.

Local people pushed for its return, and it was rebuilt in 1982 in its original style. It links the Shadërvan square with the Saraçhane quarter. It is free and open at all times, but the cobbles can be slippery when wet.

Did you know? The Stone Bridge of Prizren was first built around the 16th century as a footbridge of worked stone with three arches, the largest in the middle.
