The Russian Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Karlovy Vary, consecrated in 1897 for Russian spa guests, with five gilded onion domes above the Westend villa quarter.
The church was begun in 1893 and consecrated on 9 June 1897, on the model of a church at Ostankino near Moscow. Its plan is a Greek cross, with a central dome and five gilded onion cupolas, and inside stands a majolica iconostasis made for the Paris World Exhibition of 1900. A restoration from 2013 renewed the gilding.
It is an active place of worship and is usually open to visitors during the day. Dress modestly, with covered shoulders and no shorts, and ask before you take photos inside. The church stands on a steep slope above the centre.
