About Hallstatt Skywalk (Welterbeblick)
A free viewing platform beside the Rudolfsturm, cantilevered out above Hallstatt and floating some three hundred and fifty metres over the village roofs, lake and encircling mountains.
The Skywalk Hallstatt, known as the Welterbeblick or World Heritage View, is a free cantilevered viewing platform on the Salzberg, at the top of the Salzbergbahn funicular above the village. Opened in 2013, it reaches about twelve metres out from the hillside and floats roughly three hundred and fifty metres above the roofs of Hallstatt and the Hallstätter See, framing the classic panorama of village, lake and mountains.
Beside it stands the Rudolfsturm, a stone tower built between 1282 and 1284 and named after the Habsburg king Rudolf I. Raised to guard the valuable salt mine and later home to the mine master, it now houses a restaurant with a panoramic terrace. Platform and tower alike sit within the UNESCO Hallstatt-Dachstein / Salzkammergut World Heritage landscape, and should not be confused with the Dachstein Skywalk at the Hunerkogel or the Five Fingers above Obertraun.
