About Eternity Memorial Complex

The Eternity Memorial Complex, opened in 1975 for Soviet soldiers killed in the 1944 Iași-Chișinău offensive, with a 25-metre monument of five stone bayonets and an eternal flame.

The memorial was inaugurated on 9 May 1975, for the 30th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe. Five stylised bayonets form a pyramid 25 metres high over an eternal flame in a five-pointed star, and a military cemetery lies beside it.

Nearby, the Grieving Mother monument honours those killed in the armed conflict of 1992 on the Dniester, remembered each year on 2 March. The memorial is free and open; please be quiet and respectful.
