About Llogara Pass

The Llogara Pass, about 1,027 metres high in the Ceraunian Mountains, where the coast road climbs through a national park of pine and fir forest and suddenly reveals the whole Albanian Riviera below.

The pass is about 1,027 metres high, inside Llogara National Park, created in 1966. Since 2024, a tunnel of about 6 km passes beneath it, so most through traffic avoids the old pass road, which remains open as the scenic route.

The pass road is usually open, but snow or ice can close it from December to March, and fog is common. Drive the hairpins slowly and stop only at safe places. A toll may apply in the tunnel.

Did you know? The Llogara Pass in southern Albania is about 1,027 metres high; since July 2024 a tunnel of about six kilometres runs beneath it.
