About Court Garden and Court Church

The Court Garden of the Würzburg Residence, a Baroque garden on the old town bastions, finished in the later eighteenth century, with statues, clipped yews and wrought-iron gates, beside the Court Church.

The garden was finished under Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim, with the court gardener Johann Prokop Mayer, who divided the sloping site into the East and South gardens. Many statues come from the workshop of Johann Peter Wagner. The Court Church, built into the south-west corner of the palace from 1732 to 1743, has altar paintings by Tiepolo.

The garden is free and open daily until dusk; dogs must be on a lead. The Court Church is free and open during palace hours, except during services and weddings.
