About Liechtenstein National Museum

The Liechtenstein National Museum on the Städtle, telling the story of the principality from the Stone Age to today in an old tavern, a governor's house and a modern wing.

The museum joins the old princely tavern and customs house, with timbers from 1438, the medieval governor's house and a stone-clad wing built into the castle slope. It reopened in 2003 after eleven years of closure caused by damage from a nearby building site.

It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with late opening on Wednesdays, and closed on Mondays. An audio guide is included in the ticket. Entry is free on 15 August, and the café can be visited without a ticket.

Did you know? The National Museum's front building was the princely tavern and customs house; its oldest timbers have been dated by tree rings to 1438.
