About Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein
The Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, the black cube of modern and contemporary art on the Städtle, opened in 2000, with the white cube of the Hilti Art Foundation next door.
The state art museum opened in November 2000 in a black building by Morger & Degelo and Christian Kerez, paid for mostly by private donors. Since 2015 the Hilti Art Foundation has shown its classical modern art in a white cube next to it.
One ticket covers both, and entry is free on Wednesdays. The museum is closed on Mondays and open late on Thursdays. Exhibitions change, and galleries can close while a new show is being set up.
Did you know? The black facade of the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein is polished concrete mixed with basalt and pebbles from the Rhine, which makes it reflect the sky and street.
