About Telliskivi Creative City

A former railway-workshop complex reborn in 2007 as Tallinn's buzzing creative quarter: hundreds of studios and start-ups, street art, galleries, restaurants and a big weekend flea market.

Telliskivi Creative City (Telliskivi Loomelinnak) is a cultural hub in Tallinn's Kalamaja district, beside the Baltic railway station. It was founded in 2007 by Jaanus Juss on the site of a former Baltic Railway Company factory. The site's railway-industrial history reaches back to 1870, when the Main Workshops of the Baltic Railway were established here while the city was the Russian-Empire town of Reval. In the Soviet era the grounds served the Kalinin Electrical Engineering Plant, and the old workshops were left derelict as it declined.

Today the complex holds about ten buildings covering over 25,000 square metres, home to more than 300 companies, most of them creative enterprises, along with shops, restaurants, two theatres and several galleries. A branch of the Stockholm photography museum Fotografiska opened here in 2019, and its restaurant received a green Michelin star in 2022. A weekly flea market, a skate park and close to a thousand cultural events a year draw large crowds.
