About Regional Ethnographic Museum

The Regional Ethnographic Museum of Plovdiv, in the painted Kuyumdzhioglu House of 1847, one of the finest merchants' houses of the Old Town, with folk costumes, crafts and furnished rooms.

The house was built in 1847 for the cloth merchant Argir Kuyumdzhioglu by a master builder from the Rhodopes. It has a symmetrical front with three curved gables, 12 rooms with carved wooden ceilings and a garden with a fountain. The city bought it in 1938 to save it from demolition.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays, with shorter hours in winter. A ticket is needed. The garden courtyard also holds summer concerts.
