About Vřídlo (Hot Spring) and the Hot Spring Colonnade
The Vřídlo in Karlovy Vary, the hottest spring in Czechia at about 73 degrees Celsius, whose jet of water rises inside a glass colonnade of 1975 on the river Teplá.
The spring yields about 2,000 litres a minute, and its jet, driven by carbon dioxide, can rise to about twelve metres. The hall of glass and steel was built from 1969 to 1975; after years with the jet outdoors, the jet returned to the renovated hall in 2022. Three stands serve the water hot, at about 72 degrees.
Entry to the hall is free, and it opens early in the morning every day. The water is very hot, so let it cool in your cup. At times the jet is switched off for cleaning, and repair work may continue nearby.
