About Market Colonnade and Park Colonnade (Tržní and Sadová kolonáda)
The Market Colonnade in Karlovy Vary, a carved white wooden hall of 1883 over the Charles IV Spring, and the cast-iron Park Colonnade of 1881 in the Dvořák Gardens nearby.
The Market Colonnade was built in 1882 and 1883 in Swiss style, to a design credited to Fellner and Helmer, and was meant to stand for only about ten years. It shelters three springs and a bronze relief of the legend of Charles IV. The Park Colonnade, of cast iron, stands in the Dvořák Gardens a short walk away and shelters the Snake Spring.
Both colonnades are open to all and free. The wooden colonnade is open to the air, so it gives little shelter on cold or wet days.
