Olympus is a massif of more than fifty peaks and deep gorges on the old border between Macedon and Thessaly. Its highest summit, Mytikas, was first climbed on record in 1913. The road from Litochoro ends at Prionia, where the main path starts. The mountain refuges close for the winter at the end of October, and the summit then needs winter skills. The last section to Mytikas is an exposed scramble.
