About Ayia Napa Cathedral
The twin-towered Greek Orthodox cathedral of the old town, a Byzantine-revival church of the early 1900s with a silver-blue dome, a marble iconostasis and crystal chandeliers.
The Ayia Napa Cathedral, on Agiou Andreou Street in the old town, is the main Greek Orthodox church of Limassol, built around 1900 to 1910 on the site of an older, smaller church. In a Byzantine-revival style of pale stone and marble, it has two tall bell towers flanking an arcaded facade and a central silver-blue dome.
Inside, a marble iconostasis, frescoes in the dome, gilded woodwork and crystal chandeliers fill the three-aisled nave, which holds a silver-covered icon of Ayia Napa. The church is the seat of the Orthodox bishop of Limassol and is open to visitors; a small domed marble fountain stands in its courtyard, a short walk from the Great Mosque and the seafront. (It is not the Ayia Napa monastery in the Famagusta district.)
