About Bach Museum Leipzig
The Bach Museum in Leipzig, in the Baroque Bosehaus across the square from St Thomas Church, the home of a merchant family who were friends of Bach, with an exhibition on his life and music.
The house was built in 1710 and 1711 for the merchant Georg Heinrich Bose, whose family were friends and neighbours of the Bach family. Since 1985 it has held the Bach-Archiv, a research centre, and the museum, rebuilt and reopened in 2010, presents Bach's life and works in rooms where you can listen to his music.
The museum is closed on Mondays and needs a ticket; entry is free for under-18s and on the first Tuesday of each month. Audio guides are free, and concerts are held in the small summer hall.
