About Stubai Glacier
The Stubai Glacier at the head of the Stubai valley, a high glacier ski area reached by gondola, with the Top of Tyrol viewing platform at about 3,200 metres.
The first cable car opened in 1973, and a new tri-cable gondola replaced it in 2016. The ski season runs from autumn to early summer. The Top of Tyrol platform juts out over the drop at about 3,200 metres.
The lifts run daily in season, from early morning to late afternoon, and close in strong wind or poor visibility. The glacier ice cave closed in 2023. It is cold at the top in every season.
