About City Tower
The Stadtturm, the city tower of Innsbruck beside the old town hall, built between 1442 and 1450, where watchmen once looked out for fires and where a viewing gallery looks over the roofs to the Alps.
The tower is about 51 metres high and was built between 1442 and 1450. Its Gothic spire was replaced by an onion dome in 1560. Watchmen lived at the top and warned of fires for more than four hundred years.
The gallery is about 130 steps up, and there is no lift. It is open every day, with longer hours in summer and in Advent. Large bags are not allowed.
