About Kleinmarkthalle

The Kleinmarkthalle, the covered food market in the old town of Frankfurt, built in 1954, where about sixty traders sell fresh produce, meat and local specialities such as green sauce and Frankfurt sausages.

The first market hall of Frankfurt, a large hall of iron and glass of 1879, was destroyed in the air raids of 1943 and 1944. The present hall was built in 1954 in only eleven months, about 200 metres from the old site, with a sloping roof and a glazed north wall. It has been a listed monument since 2000.

The market is open from Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and public holidays; Saturday mornings are the busiest. A renovation began in 2026, and the market stays open, but some stalls may move during the works.
