About Tre Cime di Lavaredo

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the three great rock towers of the Sexten Dolomites, almost 3,000 metres high, circled by one of the most famous walks in the Alps and marked by First World War ruins.

The three peaks, Cima Piccola, Cima Grande and Cima Ovest, rise to almost 3,000 metres. Until 1919 the border between Italy and Austria-Hungary ran across them, and the First World War front left trenches and tunnels here.

The loop walk takes about three to four hours and is easy to moderate. The toll road to Rifugio Auronzo opens in summer only and needs an online booking. Weather can change fast, even in July.

Did you know? Until 1919 the border between Italy and Austria-Hungary ran across the Tre Cime, and soldiers fought here in the First World War from 1915 to 1917.
