About Church of Santa Coloma

Santa Coloma, one of the oldest churches in Andorra, with a pre-Romanesque nave of about the 9th century and a rare round Romanesque bell tower of the 12th century.

The nave and square apse were built in about the 9th century, and the round, four-storey tower in the Lombard Romanesque style was added in the 12th century. The village was Andorra's first parish.

The 12th-century apse paintings were removed in 1932-33, travelled through Barcelona, Germany and Berlin, and were bought back by Andorra in 2007. They are now in the Espai Columba museum beside the church. Visits are arranged with the museum.
