About Caldea

Caldea, the thermal spa in Escaldes-Engordany beside the Valira, opened in 1994 under a glass spire about 80 metres tall and fed by the town's natural hot springs.

The name Escaldes comes from the Latin for hot waters, and the town's springs rise at around 70 degrees. The French architect Jean-Michel Ruols designed Caldea's glass towers and lagoons, which opened in 1994.

Inside are lagoons, hot and cold baths and saunas, with an adults-only area and a children's area. Entry is with a timed ticket. The complex is being renovated in stages, so some areas may be closed; check before you go.
