About Roloi Clock Tower
Climb the Old Town's oldest clock tower, still run by a Vienna-made mechanism, for a rooftop panorama over the Palace, the mosque, the walls and the harbour.
The Roloi Clock Tower stands at the highest point of Rhodes Old Town, near the junction of Sokratous and Orfeos streets and close to the Palace of the Grand Master. Belonging to the Ottoman period of the town's history, it dates to around 1852 and is associated with the governor Fethi Pasha. It is described as the oldest surviving clock tower in Rhodes, and its clock mechanism was imported from Vienna and still functions today.
Visitors can climb the tower for a panoramic view over the Old Town's rooftops, taking in the Palace of the Grand Master, the Mosque of Suleiman, the medieval city walls and the harbour beyond. The modest admission fee includes a drink at the small open-air cafe at the foot of the tower. The tower is a signposted attraction within the UNESCO-listed Medieval City of Rhodes, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.
