About Classis Ravenna Museum

Classis Ravenna, the museum of the city and its territory in a former sugar factory at Classe, and the nearby excavated Roman port, telling the story of Ravenna from the Etruscans to the early Middle Ages.

The museum opened in 2018 in a sugar factory that closed in 1982, and it shows about six hundred objects in time order. Nearby, the Ancient Port park shows the quays, canals and warehouses of Classe, the base built for the Roman fleet under Augustus. Together with Sant'Apollinare in Classe they form the archaeological park of Classe.

The museum and the port park have separate tickets and hours; the port park has guided visits mainly at weekends. Both are about five kilometres south of the centre, close to Sant'Apollinare in Classe.
