About Lake Kaiafas
Lake Kaiafas, a peaceful coastal lake south of Olympia, with an islet, warm sulphur springs in a cave below the mountain, a belt of pine forest and a long sandy beach on the Ionian Sea.
The lake is about three kilometres long and lies beside the sea, behind a pine forest and a sandy beach about 3.5 kilometres long. Warm sulphur springs rise in a cave at the foot of the mountain, used for baths since 1907.
The lake, forest and beach are free and open at all times. The thermal baths are seasonal, roughly from early summer to autumn, so check the dates before you go. Loggerhead turtles nest on the beach; please keep away from nests.
Did you know? Warm sulphur springs at about 32 to 34 degrees rise in caves beside Lake Kaiafas; the first modern baths there were built in 1907.
