About Midleton & Jameson Experience
The Old Midleton Distillery houses the Jameson Experience, where you can explore the world's largest pot still and discover how Ireland's most famous whiskey brand was born in East Cork.
Old Midleton Distillery in the market town of Midleton, 25km east of Cork city, is one of the most important heritage sites in the story of Irish whiskey. Founded in 1825 on the site of an old woollen mill, the distillery grew to become the heart of the Irish whiskey industry. Today it houses the Jameson Experience, one of Ireland's most popular visitor attractions, where guided tours explore the extraordinary distilling equipment, including the world's largest copper pot still, a 143,600-litre behemoth that has become the symbol of Irish whiskey craftsmanship. The tour covers the complete whiskey-making process from grain to glass, including the crucial role of triple distillation that distinguishes Irish whiskey from Scotch, and culminates in a whiskey tasting. The distillery complex also includes the Irish Whiskey Academy for serious enthusiasts.
Did you know? The pot still at Old Midleton Distillery holds 143,600 litres, it is officially the largest copper pot still in the world and has become the symbol of Irish whiskey craftsmanship.
