About Cobh & Titanic Experience

The picturesque harbour town of Cobh (pronounced 'Cove') was the Titanic's last port of call in 1912, and its heritage centre tells the poignant stories of the millions who emigrated from Ireland's shores.

Cobh is one of Ireland's most historically significant and visually beautiful towns, a Victorian-era settlement of brightly coloured terraced houses cascading down the hill above one of the world's great natural harbours, Cork Harbour. Formerly known as Queenstown, Cobh served as the principal departure point for millions of Irish emigrants who left for America, Australia, and elsewhere during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. On 11 April 1912, the RMS Titanic made its last port of call here before its fateful North Atlantic voyage; 123 passengers, most of them Irish emigrants, boarded at Cobh, and only 44 of them survived. The Titanic Experience Cobh tells this story with exceptional emotional depth. Above the town, the magnificent Cathedral of Saint Colman, a Gothic Revival masterpiece, commands the skyline. The Cobh Heritage Centre explores 300 years of emigration history.

Did you know? The RMS Titanic's last port of call was Cobh (then Queenstown) on 11 April 1912, 123 passengers boarded there, and only 44 of them survived the sinking four days later.
