About Navagio (Shipwreck Beach)

Navagio, the famous Shipwreck Beach on the north-west coast of Zakynthos, a white cove below high cliffs with the rusting wreck of the MV Panagiotis on its sand, seen from the cliff-top viewpoint.

The coaster MV Panagiotis, built in Scotland in 1937, ran aground in the cove in early October 1980. After rockfalls, the beach has been closed at times since 2018.

In 2026, landing, swimming and boats within 50 metres of the shore were banned until at least 31 October. Check the current rules locally. The wreck is seen from the cliff-top platform; stay behind the fence.
