About Cinque Torri

The Cinque Torri, five rock towers above Cortina d'Ampezzo, where restored Italian trenches, shelters and gun positions of the First World War form part of a great open-air museum.

The highest tower, the Torre Grande, reaches 2,361 metres. In the First World War this was an Italian position facing the Austro-Hungarian lines on the Lagazuoi. Its trenches and shelters have been restored as an open-air museum.

The site is reached by chairlift or on foot in summer. The trenches can be slippery, so wear boots. Lift seasons and times change, so check before you go.
