About Torre delle Ore
The Torre delle Ore on Via Fillungo, the clock tower of Lucca, about 50 metres tall, with a clock mechanism of 1754 still in place and a famous local ghost legend.
The tower dates from the thirteenth century. The city put a clock in it in 1390, and the mechanism you see today was made in 1754 by a watchmaker from Geneva. A steep wooden staircase of about 207 steps leads to the bells.
The tower charges entry, and the Lucca Visit Card is accepted. Booking is recommended on weekdays and required at weekends and on holidays. There is no lift, and the staircase is narrow, steep and made of wood.
