The Salève mountain, the Jura, and the distinctive topography of the Geneva basin are all clearly identifiable, making this a landmark in Western art history. Beyond this masterpiece, the museum holds important works by Corot, Hodler (whose large-scale allegorical and landscape paintings are among the finest expressions of Swiss Romantic painting), Wouwerman, and many others.
