About Château Lynch-Bages

Château Lynch-Bages is one of the most beloved Bordeaux wines among enthusiasts, classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855 but consistently making wine that rivals the second and even first growths in quality. The estate is located in the hamlet of Bages, which gives it its name, on a gravelly plateau to the west of the town of Pauillac. The wine is known for its generous, immediately appealing style, more flamboyant and fruit-forward than the austere Latour or the mineral Léoville Barton, with rich blackcurrant fruit, cedar, and an often noted quality described as "café au lait." The estate has been owned by the Cazes family since 1939, and Jean-Michel Cazes, who ran it from the 1970s to 2005, was one of the key figures in modernising and promoting Pauillac wine internationally. The village of Bages around the estate has been developed into a charming wine tourism destination.
