The collection of over 14,000 works covers the full span of Miró's extraordinarily long career and includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, tapestries, and works on paper. The building itself is a major work of architecture: designed by Miró's lifelong friend Josep Lluís Sert and completed in 1975, its white rationalist forms and carefully controlled natural lighting create a setting of exceptional beauty for the works inside.
