Designed by MVRDV architects, the building is a giant mirrored sphere 60 metres in diameter, clad entirely in concave reflective panels. Inside, the depot stores all 151,000 works in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen collection, from medieval altarpieces to works by Bruegel, Dalí, Magritte, Monet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Vermeer. Visitors can walk among the open racks, watch art conservators at work in glass-walled studios, eat in the rooftop restaurant, and book guided tours. The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen itself is currently undergoing renovation; the Depot provides unprecedented public access to the entire collection during this period.
