The Motor Valley is the name given to the extraordinary concentration of high-performance automotive and motorsport companies in Emilia-Romagna, most of them within 50 kilometres of Modena. Ferrari is based in Maranello, 20 kilometres south of Modena, with its factory, Fiorano test track (private), and the Museo Ferrari open to the public. Lamborghini is based in Sant'Agata Bolognese, 30 kilometres north. Pagani Automobili is based in San Cesario sul Panaro, just outside Modena. Maserati's historic headquarters remain in Modena itself. Ducati motorcycles are based in Bologna, 40 kilometres north. De Tomaso was based in Modena. Stanguellini was from Modena. The concentration of engineering talent, tradition, and passion for performance in this relatively small area of northern Italy is unique in the world.
