About Dalkey & Killiney Hill

Dublin's most affluent coastal suburb, with the breathtaking bay known as the Irish Riviera, and former home of Bono, Van Morrison, and Enya.

Dalkey and Killiney are two of the most beautiful and fashionable southern suburbs of Dublin, situated on a rocky headland 13 kilometres south of the city centre and easily accessible by DART. Killiney Bay, the sweeping arc of beach and cliff between Dalkey and Bray, has been compared to the Bay of Naples and is often called the Irish Riviera, a comparison that, on a fine summer day with blue water sparkling below the granite hills, is not entirely fanciful.

Killiney Hill is a public park atop the headland, offering extraordinary views across Dublin Bay, Ireland's Eye, the Howth headland to the north, and on clear days the silhouettes of the Welsh mountains. The hill is dotted with Victorian obelisks and follies built by local landlords in the 18th and 19th centuries as famine relief works.

Dalkey village is charming, with excellent restaurants, an ancient castle, and the reputation as the most expensive address outside of central Dublin. Torca Road on the hill above the village is known as 'Millionaires' Row', home at various times to Bono, The Edge, Van Morrison, and Enya.

Did you know? Torca Road in Killiney is known as 'Millionaires' Row', Bono and The Edge from U2, Van Morrison, and Enya have all lived on or near this famous hillside address.
