The Baños del Alcázar Califal are the remains of the royal bath complex that formed part of the Moorish Alcázar, the palace of the Umayyad Caliphs, adjacent to the current Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. The baths date from the 10th century and were used by the caliphs and their court. The archaeological remains include the heated floors, the star-shaped skylights in the vaulted brick ceilings, and the sequence of rooms of different temperatures. The complex was excavated in the 20th century and is now open as an archaeological site with a small museum explaining the bathing tradition of Caliphate Córdoba.
