The Stade Vélodrome, officially the Orange Vélodrome since 2011 for sponsorship reasons, but always called simply "the Vélodrome" by Marseille fans, is the most atmospheric football stadium in France and one of the most legendary in European football. With a capacity of 67,394, it is the second-largest stadium in France after the Stade de France. The stadium opened in 1937, was substantially rebuilt for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and was again completely renovated between 2011 and 2014, acquiring a distinctive undulating white roof that now covers the entire stadium. Olympique de Marseille (OM), the club that plays here, are the only French club to have won the UEFA Champions League (1993) and are one of the most supported clubs in Europe.
