About Broadway Tower
A Gothic folly perched on the second-highest point of the Cotswolds, offering views across thirteen counties on a clear day.
Broadway Tower is a Gothic folly on Broadway Hill, the second-highest point of the Cotswolds at 1,024 feet above sea level. Built in 1798 by James Wyatt for the Earl of Coventry, the tower was designed so that Lady Coventry could see whether a beacon lit on the hill would be visible from her home 22 miles away. On a clear day, the views extend across thirteen counties.
Did you know? The tower was built because Lady Coventry wanted to know if she could see a bonfire on this hill from her home 22 miles away, she could.
